Paydens 14 new refrigerated van fleet fitted with TRAILAR
The Paydens Group is a family owned and independent Retail and Wholesale Pharmacy chain in the UK.
Originally founded by Dennis Pay MRPharmS in 1969, we operate 115 pharmacies across the South- East of England, with our Head Office based in Maidstone, Kent.
For over 50 years we have been committed to serving our local communities healthcare needs, but we are also very aware of our environmental responsibilities and continuously look for ways to further our green credentials.
In addition to working through suggestions from the Governments ESOS (Energy Savings and Opportunities Scheme) to reduce energy consumption and wastage across the Paydens Group, we’ve now teamed up with TRAILAR (www.trailar.co.uk) as part of our drive for more sustainability.
TRAILAR is the leader in solar transport technology, with the mission to make commercial vehicles ’greener’. Cutting-edge, ultra-thin solar panels are fitted onto the roof space of existing or new vehicles and connect the panels to the vehicle battery.
TRAILAR will be implemented across 14 of our Ford refrigerated vans that deliver chilled medicinal products to our pharmacies daily. The fitted technology will actively reduce our vehicles emissions by reducing fuel consumption, with solar energy powering all onboard electrical equipment.
The solar supported van fleet went live within the network in May and TRAILAR’s technology is already capturing and reporting on all fuel and CO2 savings being made on each fitted vehicle allowing us to gauge the benefits that the Paydens Group is obtaining from solar.
Jo Pay –
“We have been working with the team at TRAILAR, to innovate our fleet with their award-winning solar technology.
This solar technology harnesses the clean power of the sun to reduce the volume of fuel that each vehicle’s alternator requires to generate the energy that runs all the on-board electrical equipment. Because our vehicles are temperature controlled this technology significantly contributes to reducing the amount of fuel required to achieve these conditions which will ultimately help in reducing our emissions”.
